It all started a long time ago...
I remember life being good at the start. Cornwall is a lovely place to grow up and I adore the countryside...bringing home stray puppies to take care of was something I did regularly. But, as for many people, school was a shocking awakening to how harsh even children can be - I was cruelly teased for years and years because of my thick glasses....leaving school emotionally battered and self-conscious.
After school, I left to learn hairdressing and blossomed into a more confident young woman. Learning new ideas and meeting new people energised me. Many old friends would be surprised by how adventurous I would become. In my heyday, I was tripping to Ibzia and partying the night away like a goddess.
Slowly I wore myself out and became aware of a strange feeling of tiredness and dis-ease. Suddenly collapsing confronted me and my family with bad news - a lung condition that threatened my health, happiness and my lifespan. My confidence collapsed as well as I faced this serious threat.
My friends, my family and my optimism enveloped me as I climbed back to health and happiness.
A few years later my health was challenged again when I discovered, at just 38, I was menopausal. My ambition to have children was shattered and the grief echoed in my mind and body.
Once again, the people around me gave me purpose and my wonderful husband stayed loyal to me when my body had betrayed me. I climbed once more, back to confidence.
The global financial crisis hit me as it did so many others...adding finances to the list of blows I have faced in my life. The home and wealth we had accumulated was devastated and once again, I was forced to find a purpose within myself when life denied me my hopes and ambitions.
Right now, I'm a free-spirited businesswoman who embraces her strength and purpose. I'm known for my passion for helping others reconnect with themselves. I beleive in kindness, compassion and connection. Now, I've spoken on stages, helped transform the lives of clients and won an award for my giving spirit.
Today I know that I have what it takes to face obstacles and overcome them. I know that unhappiness is temporary and optimism is the foundation I need to succeed. My confidence is built from experience and grit and I want to share it with others.
I hope you'll let me show you the six steps to confidence that I have discovered and used to my own advantage...
